2024 Paul Pedrazzini (Swiss)

This double bass is based on the outline of a Vincenzo Panormo, albeit geometrically reconstructed and with the inclusion of elliptic arcs for the C-bout and the shoulders.

The top was built from an exceptional piece of wood: spruce of this kind is no longer to be found and allows for a thin and yet very stable top to be created. Extremely fine-grained at the joint and regularly wider and wider out to the flanks; this spruce tree had a quiet, long and stable life in the Swiss Alps until it was felled several decades ago.

The back is in one-piece, and the sides from the same tree are made of Italian poplar.
